But will a single "low-mid range Athlon" outpace my dual PIIIs?
That's really the question. Is there really significant increases in
real performance or is it just upgrading for upgrading's sake?
(We see this ALL THE TIME in the cycling world... splined bottom brackets,
threadless headsets, etc... not BETTER than what came before, but
different and "more advanced". Looks good on paper, lots of benchmarks,
but real-world performance doesn't change a bit.)
