[PLUG] Debian lost NIC -RESOLVED

Fixed!  Although am sure your advice above was correct, after running
modconf per Jeme, it seems to update /etc/modules for me.  NIC and audio
(see below) work fine every time at bootup.

Turns out another driver issue.  I thought all I needed was the ac97
module.  So I cheated- I booted back up on my redhat drive where the sound
works and did an lsmod.  That showed i810_audio, ac97_codec, and soundcore
seemed to be the only sound-related modules running.  I booted back into
Debian, added those (and removed the wrong modules with modconf, and now
I've got sound too! :) :)

Indeed, I didn't realize that I could adjust the H & V frequencies from
Peripherals, X display.  Once I put it appropriate values for H & V, then
suddenly I had the choice of higher screen resolutions and refresh rates. 
Looks good now!
