Are you using kernel 2.6.x? If so, you need to tell cdrecord dev=/dev/hdc (if
it's hdc) or dev=ATAPI:0,1,0 as XCDRoast stated. The latter is preferred by
cdrecord.
If you're using 2.4.x with ide-scsi emulation for CD-RW access, I really don't
know what is up, sorry.
