Avoid running anything like this outside of Linux unless you have a 
whole bunch of really crypt-ick named profiles. See man useradd in 
Solaris for more details. Of course, Karla did only ask about Linux but 
I think that it's worth mentioning the portability point since the 
subject is automating mass useradd's.
