I recall a story that E. Dijkstra told:  He was looking at some code for
somebody that was not working and suggested restructuring the code.  The
person replied that that would be much to slow, he needed the code to
run fast.  To which Dijkstra reponded that it would be easy to make the
program run fast, it it did not need to produce the correct answers.
