[PLUG] DHCP, DNS and Hostname

Hello:

I am having some problems with DHCP and hostname and DNS...
Appreciate if someone can offer some tips...

One of my boxes at work is running Linux and I am obtaining my IP from DHCP.
It is my understanding that DHCP will also assign my box a hostname
based what sysadmin set in the DNS record to associate with the given IP
to a hostname.
Last week, I upgraded to Fedora RC2 and for some odd
reasons, my hostname is gone and I am given a generic one.
Since then, I have had emails with the sysadmin abotu this problem.
He claims that hostname is set in our company's DNS by picking
up from what I set in my own box. So effectively, I can pick whatever
name I like and it will be my hostname and it will populate with the DNS
record.
I found that puzzling but did it anyway. And of course, nothing happen.
I am still the generic hostname even though I have changed
it everywhere (/etc/sysconfig/network ; /etc/hosts)

I am still unable to resolve my original hostname. I keep telling the
sysadmin that I think the name is dropped from the central DNS record
somehow...

My question is, does DHCP really picks up hostname from client boxes
when it assigns leases and set that in the company-wide DNS server?
