[PLUG] Zombie in my Linux box?

Help!

I noticed when I ran ps -aux this morning that the cron daemon had
launched some root processes with the word "zombie" in them and later
there was a ping to 216.115.108.243 followed by a "[ping <zombie>]." I
don't like the look of this...  Then I tried to reboot. And couldn't.

Anyone know what this means when I try to reboot, and how to fix it?
