[PLUG] A WiFi WAP Question

I have the Linksys wireless switch patched to the Linksys wired switch.
The patch cord goes from the uplink port on the wired switch to port 1 on
the WiFi switch.

The problem is that I cannot reach the WiFi switch from any other host. I
can't ping it from a workstation that has the switch's IP address in
/etc/hosts, I can no longer access the admin setup with a browser (trying to
open the IP address results in the message 'network problems') and, of
course, neither portable can reach it via WiFi. The cards in the portables
have a strong, bright link light and now and then the activity light
flickers but any attempt to ping a workstation from a portable fails.

What protocol and/or tools can help me identify the reason for this
'network problem'?

TIA,

Rich
