Thanks to all for the responses. I was able to get a used Belkin
F5D6020 with the Prism chipset at Belmont Computers. In order to
get it working, here's what I did.

Upgraded kernel to last one released by redhat, 2.2.24

Built wireless-tools. At this point, the card might have worked using
the wvlan_cs driver supplied by redhat, but my configuration was wrong,
though I didn't know it at the time.

Removed kernel-pcmcia-cs rpm. Built latest pcmcia-cs, 3.2.7. Got an
oops whenever cardmgr tried to load the orinoco modules.

Built pcmcia-cs-3.1.34. No more oops, but problems with my config files.

Finally realized that I had lowercase characters for my MAC address in
the wireless.opts file. When the configuration scripts run, they
expect the MAC address to be uppercase. After correcting this, the
card started working.

BTW, the high output card (200 mW, http://www.netgate.com/EL2511.html)
that Russell mentioned is $65. The company is in Spokane. They also
sell some interesting antennas.
