[PLUG] Best source for pre-configured Linux Boxen?

Which CAD package?  I _try_ to follow what is happening in the Linux-CAD
world but don't always succeed but a software package that relies on a 
distribution that old (verses Redhat's 7.3 enterprise stuff) surprises me.
