It's no surprise to me that you would take it this way. Another
way of interpreting it is:

"Creating domainless names on a DNS server is easy. I'd tell you
how to do it but there's little point given that DNS resolvers
make it very difficult on the client side. The resolver
behavior is unlikely to change and make this easier in the future
because we have the legacy RFCs that must be followed regardless
of whether they make sense. I'd love to have you in one of my
DNS classes so you can learn the beauty and horrors of DNS."

Why do you find it necessary to be this list's policeman?
I find it annoying.
