With MythTV recording the shows and cutting out the commercials I have to put up with much less commercial influence on the kids, which is great for everyone. They don't have to whine about things we are not going to go out and buy and I don't have to listen to it.

I haven't seen any porn related news since Boogie Nights was released in the theaters, which by the way was a great flick, especially if you like porn.

Why are UPN 49, WB32, and Fox 12 becoming so degraded? Most cable and
satellite television sources in my experience don't give their customers
choice of
programming. If they charge you exorbitently for it, it's really not
worth it. I'd like to see more useful stations. How about a station
devoted to how
to's for Linux administrators? So many people are looking for
information on how to do the same things, it could be a really nice
service. The other thing that
bothers me about the media today is that it hasn't diversified enough.
There is a small ethnic slice in most programming it seems. The
tendency in sitcoms
seems to be toward liberal and egalitarian value systems. It's not just
what is shown that's sad, it's the attitudes displayed which are in some
ways worse.
I bet the islamic world would view us more favorably if we'd stop
producing so much offensive programming. Cleaner programming at home
would make
it easier to win the peace abroad by improving our reputation.
