What happened to your system date? It's May. May of 2004. As much as
you'd apparently like to roll the clock back to 1325, you're not going to
do it by slowly decrementing your system time.

Think about it, Michael. This isn't a technical problem and doesn't
require a technical answer. Rob asked if you were running devfs or some
other automatic /dev filesystem. You didn't have to include your entire
kernel config to show whether or not that was the case. And you didn't
even include the simple answer.

This is very much like your failure to check google before asking the list
a question. You sent the entire kernel config and said "the answer's in
there somewhere" with the implied "but I'm too lazy to pick it out for
myself."

grep -i dev /usr/src/linux/.config

Even THAT would give shorter output then the entire file.

The actual technological limit of message size isn't really important here
at all. What's important is that you send as much information as is
appropriate for the investigation of the problem at hand -- no more, no
less.

Oh, and I was always taught that FUBAR stood for "Fouled Up Beyond All
Repair", so get your mind out of the fucking gutter.
