This latter argument is what the OSDL guy (the guy who hired Linus and
gave the talk, er a while back) called a "control point" analogous to
"price point".  In other words, some people need control over their
software to be able to solve their problem and no practical cost or
convenience factor can compensate for a lack of control.

Free Software gives you control.  Of course it can also be, and often
is, cheaper and (all things considered) more convenient as well.
