   I assumed when I read this that "hard RT" is what they do and "soft RT" is
what everyone else does. That way they can claim a unique position in the
marketplace.

   In my opinion, unless there's an earthquake going on, telescope control is
at a much slower Real Time than shutting down a run-away nuclear reactor
core.

   As some sage wrote here not too long ago, "real time" is fast enough for
whatever data stream you need to capture or control. It's a subjective term
that's dependent on the context.
