Sorry about the lack of information. I got it working by adding entries in
/etc/network/interfaces:
 auto eth2
 iface eth2 inet dhcp
 name wireless LAN card
 wireless_essid laptop

Then ifconfig eth2 up followed by pump. Even works on the reboot.
