[PLUG] Checking Linux Flavor

All,

Do you guys know of a standard way of checking which flavor of linux your
running?  I know redhat and Suse use a Redhat-release and Suse-release file in
etc, but what about other flavors? What do you usually do to determine the
linux flavor that a script is running on?
