Buy the maintenance... Which contract depends on how tough you are
on the hardware. I'm pretty easy on my laptops. I bought the 2nd
tier "take-it-to-Gateway-for-service" contract. Our CEO is very tough
on hardware. I bought the first tier "extra-special,
onsite-with-a-smile, fix-whatever-breaks" maintenance for *his*
laptop.

We've needed it! In the last "failure", our CEO left his laptop
outside in the rain. Then he killed the hard drive by powering up the
machine right after drying it out in the oven. Dell showed up a
couple of days later. They replaced the bad drive with a smile.

Buy the maintenance contract that fits your budget and (ahem...)
lifestyle. You'll wish you bought if when your roommate spews beer
puke into the keyboard. ;-)
