Subject: [PLUG] formatting output with ls

Now that user names can be longer than 8 characters, I'm trying to get a
aligned columnar listing from a directory such as /var/spool/mail. I've
seen an example of this somewhere, but for the life of me I can't remember
how to do this. I believe it was an option to /bin/ls. So far my searches
have come up short. Ideas?
