[PLUG] What I've Learned About Rekall

After a four-hour exercise in frustration in trying to find and build
rekall (a dbms RAD described in the latest Linux Journal), I joined their
mail list and learned three interesting things:

1.) Their web site is quite old and may or may not work with a particular
browser/version depending on ... the phase of the moon? Anyway, it's hit or
miss and not consistent.

2.) If one wants to build a qt-only version, without KDE, one needs to
download the head of the cvs tree, run it through a pre-compilation filter
to remove the kde references, then build it. However, this version lags the
kde-specific version in terms of features and (apparently) bug fixes.

3.) It's really a KDE application and not designed to be fully deployable
under any other desktop/window manager.

Oh, well. Back to PyQt, Qt-designer, and papyrus.
