Portland Linux/Unix Group Advanced Topics

Speaker: Alan Olsen

Subject: Redhat Package Manager - How to roll your own packages

Date: March 16th 2005
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Location: Jax 826 SW 2nd Ave
                    Portland, OR

The talk will be on how to create RPMs for Linux systems and any other
OSes that use the Redhat Package Manager. (Redhat, Fedora, SuSE,
Mandrake, etc.) The talk will include how to create a spec file,
determine dependencies, and make everything work without pulling out too
much of your hair.

We will not be getting into why RPM is better than Debian's package
manager, though some aspects of package are fairly universal. (APT and
YUM will get some mention, but they are not package managers so much as
installers.)

Usual meeting rules apply. Happy Hour meal prices for the first hour.

Void where prohibited by natural law.
