[PLUG] Linux clustering/failover suggestions

I'm doing some research for setting up a production Linux environment
for running various apps in as redundant a way as possible, as well as
providing great performance.  All of the apps expect to be running on
one machine and round-robin DNS has been used in the past for client
connections.  Does anyone have suggestions of software that will
increase the reliability of these systems?  Any other suggestions
would be greatly appreciated as well.
