OMG!  I *did* look, but obviously was searching the wrong way (looking
for "bessel" in the function index).  It'll be interesting to see how
it does on accuracy and range though.  Glibc info pages indicate:

     `j0' returns the Bessel function of the first kind of order 0 of
     X.  It may signal underflow if X is too large.

My Lisp implementation doesn't.
