Yup. The APC Smart-UPS series. I bought a refurbished 1400VA model along
with the serial cable. I've set up apcupsd on the server (directly connected
to the UPS via cable) and on the other host (as a slave without a direct
connection). The APC hardware is very well designed and made (I had bad
experiences with Tripp-Lite years ago), their linux daemon is very well
documented, and there are several rebuilders that sell refurbished units with
new batteries and a warranty for a very reasonable price. They also will
reboot the system when the power returns ... I think. I'd have to look that
one up again.
Get plenty of spare capacity. I'm running a total of 700W (maximum) power
supplies on a UPS rated for 1,000W.
