	Software Development Engineer 1

	Job Description

	We are responsible for assisting the United States Department of
Justice and several State governments in enforcing the Microsoft anti-trust
settlement. Our duties include verifying that Microsoft's software products
behave in a manner consistent with the settlement's consent decree. To that
end, we are currently involved in the prototyping of a large number of
client/server based network protocols as part of a document validation
effort. The server side code is being developed on a RedHat Linux platform
in C++ and will be tested against Microsoft Windows XP clients to insure
proper functionality and interoperability.

	We are looking for Software Development Engineers to work closely
with the prototyping teams Lead Engineers primarily on server side core
development and client side test case generation. Throughout development,
integration and test, a close relationship will be maintained with the Lead
Engineers of the various protocols. The SDE 1 will be responsible for
working under the direction of the Lead, writing C++ code from design
documents provided and augmented with direction from the Lead Engineers
themselves. The SDE 1 will additionally be responsible for writing
functional tests on a Windows XP that will exercise the protocols for
functionality.


	Qualifications

	The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker who is a self-starter
and should be capable of taking ownership of a specified functional area and
delivering results in a robust development environment staffed by some of
the best design engineers in the industry. Candidates should have a strong
Computer Science background and should be fluent in C++ and object oriented
programming. Minimum of 3-5 years work experience and a bachelor's degree in
computer science or related field is required. An advanced degree in
computer science or related field is preferred. Candidates for this position
must have team experience and work well in a team environment.


	Must Have

	*	At least 3 years developing C++ code in a UNIX/Linux and/or
Visual C++ environment. 
	*	Proven experience writing client/server applications on
UNIX/Linux or Win32. 
	*	At least a basic understanding of how to develop RPC
Methods. 
	*	Proven experience writing functional test cases. 

	Prefer to Have

	*	Proven experience writing RPC based client/server
applications. 
	*	Experience developing network applications in a UNIX/Linux
or Win32 environment. 
	*	UNIX/Linux or Windows system level experience, preferably
with protocol stacks. 

	Nice to Have

	*	Experience with streaming media or terminal service
applications. 
	*	Actual work experience writing networking protocols. 
	*	Experience with rights management or client certification. 
	*	Experience writing .NET or web based communications code. 
	*	Experience with security credentials, NTLM, or NetLogon. 

	 

	Individual will be exposed to highly confidential information.
Individual must agree to certain post employment restrictions.
	
	The job is located in Bellevue WA .  No relocation will be paid.
