[PLUG] Knoppix 4.0.2 USB storage auto-detection strangeness

I have two USB storage devices, one is a Sandisk Cruzer Micro and the
other is a USB CompactFlash reader (a CameraMate CF Card Reader, I
picked up from CompUSA on Friday evening).  I plug in the Cruzer, is
becomes /dev/sda and I mount it's only partition /dev/sda1.  Later, I
plug in the CameraMate, and *somehow* it rescans the devices into
different places!

/proc/mounts doesn't change, but the desktop shows /dev/sdb1 and
/dev/sdc1, and no /dev/sda1!  My mount point /mnt/foo where /dev/sda1
had been is empty!  Even though /proc/mounts still shows it there.

WTF!

Anybody seen this before?  Know of a fix?
