Cool!
OK, just did it. Sure enough, you are right. I did the ndiswrapper -i
command and the the command ndiswrapper -l now finds the driver
and says all is well.
But modprobe ndiswrapper still gives me "FATAL: Error inserting
ndiswrapper (/lib/modules/2.6.12-9-amd64-
generic/kernel/drivers/net/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko): operation
not permitted." And I was root before I gave the command.
I now think there is something about the "generic" header -- before
it was for 2.10 and now I have 2.12-something. I can't understand
the instructions on how to fix that. The instructions were unclear
when I did it back in July, and now they are out of date as well. :(
