   I _thought_ eveolution was similar but I didn't know for sure. The point I
neglected to make in my original post is that we often seek a replacement
that "has the functionality" of that which we currently use. Often this is
because of familiarity and because we have no direct experience with
different functionality that we might actually prefer.

   By the way, there's a brand new book out from No Starch Press called "Just
Say No To Microsoft," by Tony Bove. Jason -- and others -- may find this very
useful. Chapter 4 (on alternatives to Word) is available for download from
the book's web site (and from groklaw.net's link). It looks like a very
useful guide to defenestrating.
