[PLUG] kernel upgrade

Hi:

I am on kernel 2.4.21-32 and wish to upgrade to 2.6.12 or 13.  I did a 
kernel config
and compile the kernel.  Upon reboot, I picked 2.6.12,
it loaded several things and finally gave me a bunch of error messages:

   insmod exit abnormally
   insmod: QM_MODULES: Function not implemented.

Could anyone tell me how I can fix this error?
