[PLUG] WiFi Question

I have a 3Com WiFi for my notebook and it works just fine in coffee shops,
hotels, and other hot spots offering free access. This past week, the only
public WiFi access available was in the lobby of the huge Hyatt
hotel/resort/casino. And, it was not free.

I don't recall who ran the site, but one needed to log on and agree to pay
$9.95 per day for access. I was willing to do this, but the card did not
detect the access point at all. My WiFi WAP detector did, but the card did
not.

Are these systems Microsoft-specific? I had no light on the card so
'/sbin/iwconfig eth1' did nothing of value. I had no idea what else to try.
