My story is different.  For some reason my my ThinkPad T-20, the USB
serial adapter works better than the built-in RS-232 with my Palm.  I
might have something set wrong in the BIOS, because it used to work
okay, or maybe it has something to do with the 2.6 kernel.  Greg
Kroah-Hartman recommended the ATEN-based ones and since he wrote the
damn driver, I'll prefer his advice.  I posted the exact model of mine
some time ago to the list:
