Just because the development kernel is not named "2.7" at the moment
doesn't mean that 2.6 is unstable.  Mainline kernels with even numbers
(e.g. 2.6) are officially stable.

Just for laffs, try a stock Slackware 2.6 kernel.  The drivers you
need should be included, no custom kernel needed.
