Sometime in the past month or two I picked up a new
/etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo file via a yum update. This file
was specifying port 81 in the mirrorlist URL. Apparently they thought
this was a good idea, and then had second thoughts. Anyway, there was
a window of time where an update might have picked up the port 81 version.
Today, if CentOS-Base.repo contains the port 81 version of the file, the
following error occurs:
$ yum list updates
Setting up repositories
Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: update
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: update
To fix the problem, just edit CentOS-Base.repo and remove ":81" from all
of the mirrorlist URLs.
