Vram,

   Run 'ls /var/log/packages' and see if anything is returned. If so, it's
Slackware. If so, I can loan you the 10.2 disk set so you can upgrade it to
the latest release. Of course, 11.0 is almost out, but that won't matter on
this box.

   That's interesting. Wonder what's in /data that requires comparatively
little space. I would also clean out /tmp to free more space on /.

   If it's Slackware, you'll find all the init scripts in /etc/rc.d/; look
particularly at /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1
