[PLUG] Any GIMP Gurus Here?

I have an image (.jpg, .png, .gif ... any flavor that'll work) and I want
to draw a red circle around the existing image. I use the elliptical
selection tool and create the circle (holding the shift key as I drag the
selection). Next, I apply Edit->Stroke selection. That gives me a nice 6 px
width on the circle.

But, I cannot color that rim. I can fill the circle with a color, but that
obscures the image below. Rather than having the disk filled, I want only the
border filled with color. According to the GIMP help, I'm doing the correct
things, but I'm seeing the expected results.

   Any ideas?

Rich
