[PLUG] Thunderbird & Firefox Updates

Interesting question.
I can't find anything in Thunderbird that checks for an update.  I find 
a  check for updates to extensions and themes, but not for the program 
itself.
With Ubuntu I have to change the ownership of Firefox and manually go 
check for updates since I upgraded to version 1.5.
