Different formulations, from what I can tell.  (For one thing, you get less
dpi from a xerox machine.  About 72dpi, in my experience.)

Old xeroxes seem to hold up better (and not stick together) than the old
laser prints.

It may just depend on who made the machine and the type of toner used.
