[PLUG] HD swapping

At work today, a user's laptop hard drive headed south. A replacement 
is being shipped, so I extracted the old HD, put it in an external USB 
enclosure, and am recovering what files I can.

In the meantime, I've got this HD-less Dell Latitude 6000. It occured 
to me that I had an old but viable HD with Linux installed. True, the 
HD had been running in an IBM X41, but ...?

Sure enough, the Linux (Debian) HD booted with no trouble in the Dell. 
Network, sound, USB, etc. were all there. The only non-starter was X, 
but I'd assumed that going in.

Nothing like a little portability to brighten my day. :-)
