[PLUG] Backing up with tar

Don't let me talk you out of a good thing. tar is a very solid backup
mechanism. http://www.kernel.org, Gentoo Linux and Cygwin use bzips to
distribute their product. I've switched to bzips after several years
of happily using rsync, mostly for the disk space savings. If you have
the disk space, though, rsync has its advantages. It's definitely worth
being familiar with both utilities.

Happy data shepherding!
