The D50 is particularly favored by professionals using photoshop, as 
well as the D70 (preferred)... The D50 (and D70) are nice models because 
you can purchase them with just a standard lens, and then upgrade to 
what ever lens you like.... you will get great pictures either way.... 
If you are using PShop with it, be sure to download and use Adobes 
"camera raw and dng converter" do not use the camera's version.... I use 
to support CS and CS2....

Of course if you are using it on a Linux box...
I am not sure if Linux supports camera raw images, so you will have to 
look into some documentation. Your best bet will probably be the 
Gimp2.2... which is absolutely one of the best imaging apps around!
