Ok since someone asked, I thought I would dump on the pile what I like and
dislike about linux.

First the file structure, boy isn't that a beast to learn, I'm starting to
get the hang of it after months of use, but seriously I can't sit my mom
down in front if a linux box and tell her "hey go to / or
/var/apache/apache.conf (I'm sure I have that path screwed up but it's to
illustrate my point, I can't remember where all the stuff is in this damn OS
and right now, atleast for me, it doesn't make any logical sense.)
On windows programs are easy to find even when they arn't in the start menu
(there are definatly things to be said about the start menu...I'll get in to
them later.) and unless you start getting in to the nitty gritty of things
(or windoze starts to act flaky / get a virus that is a whole other can of
beans) I atleast know where things are. even on MacOS it's pretty strait
forward with logical naming.

Finding the right program for the job in linux...
Without some heavy reading and great IRC support I'd have been lost long
ago, I'm still asking how to do simple operations in linux. the great thing
is, there are 100 ways to do the same thing, the bad thing is, there are 100
ways to do the same thing.

graphical v. command line
Some apps are made to run in Xwindows there should be a centeral point to go
to to launch these apps.

Eye Candy
yes eyecandy is bloat, but we've become accustomed to making our computers
look cool as hell, yes there is eye candy in xfce but it ain't enough to win
my heart. grey boxes of win95 past should be long gone, but sadly it's not.
take some interface lessons from gmail, nice, simple, elegant, white and
easy. try to apply KISS to the interface without it looking like 10 years
ago.

I could go on, and will, but I'm sure I'm going to be told how wrong I am
(and look forward to my public flogging ;). but for now, here is some more
food for thought. basicly we need to focus a GUI for the computer idiot. not
all the world is as smart as us bleeding edge tech guys.
