I noticed this extra scanner was lying around and thought, "will this
work on my Fedora Core 3 system?" Well, I haven't been able to get it
to work on my D845PEBT2 motherboard.

I got the scanner to do something a few times using the umax_pp tool, but
I can't seem to get that to work again. It looks like I'm running into
EPP doesn't work errors. I put the paraller port in EPP mode in the bios.
I'm wondering if parport even works with this scanner and how to get around
it if it doesn't?

My google research lead me to compile and install sane-backend-1.0.14 with
a patch, umax1220p-6.3.gz. There is a newer sane-backend, 1.0.17, but I
don't know if support for this scanner is out of beta yet.

Is there a grub option or something that I need to make my EPP port work
in EPP mode?

Here is uname -a output:
Linux eagle.robinson-west.com 2.6.12-1.1381_FC3 #1 Fri Oct 21 03:46:55 EDT 2005
i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Here's the main web site I have been trying to follow:
