Before we get too far down this path, I should point out that First
Tech is a member-operated cooperative, and that the board mostly
comprises volunteer members elected by the other members. This has
good and bad features - they are good hearted folk, but they are not
all business professionals. They will be relying on the professional
managers hired by the organization to provide advice, so my "stink"
should be designed with that in mind.

I've found the best way to reach a volunteer board is with a volunteer
spirit; it is a new day and I'm a little more level-headed than I was
last night. If we can get more of the members of the credit union on
board, we can come up with some non-threatening positive solutions.
We should engage the local Perl and Ruby-on-Rails communities for
alternatives to Visual Studio and .NET , for example.
