[PLUG] Digital camera -- wrong choice?

I know the previous model/version of this camera, the Canon PowerShot 
S2, works with gphoto2 via PTP.  My initial presumption was that the 
PowerShot S3 should do the same, but that's what I began to have doubts 
about.

Alas, this camera doesn't do RAW, which was a complaint of some more 
advanced users who were otherwise enamored of it.  But I'm not advanced, 
so I figured I could live without it.

Should have the camera in a day or two and I'll be going up to Spokane 
on Friday, so I should return with lots of blurry, red-eyed, poorly lit 
and badly framed snaps of my new 1st-cousin-twice-removed, who's only a 
few month old and will have to live them down for the rest of her life.  
Isn't technology wonderful?  :-)
