You will also discover that the greater Portland area is divided into
six quadrants: N, NE, NW, SW, SE, and S. Somebody else chose to call
them quadrants -- probably one of the folks who thinks there are three
kinds of people in the world: those who can count and those who can't.

The East and West are divided by the Willamette River. North and South
are divided by Burnside Street. The North and South designations are a
bit fuzzier. South starts south of the Clackamas River. North is west of
N. Williams Ave., and north of the Steel Bridge. In spite of all that,
or perhaps because of it, finding your way around isn't too hard.
