I tried booting an old knoppix cd yesterday. It got as far as a female
voice saying something (I think it was just telling me that sound was
working). The screen was blank with a very dark blue (purple?)
background. At that point I had to leave. It was still in that condition
when I returned 7 hours later.
I rebooted, made a memtest86 floppy and ran that. I checked it a couple
of times throughout the evening. Each time there was a column of what I
think were hex numbers, one per line, and repeating (sort of)5 at a time
for the 25 lines on the screen. I let it run overnight. Below is my
hand typed copy of what was on the screen (and still is) when I looked
at it this morning.
I've left it so that if there is anything else useful to do with that
screen it's still there. I welcome any and all help in interpreting
these results.
Thanks!
