What's the big deal about this anyways?

I see there is an effort to add it to gcc, though I am not certain why.

I guess Win32 is based on SEH. The ReactOS project is pursuing it
where I tried to look at a linked Microsoft article on it, but I
quickly got bogged down and gave up.

Who wants to implement Microsoft style SEH if it's hidden in Windows
and Visual Studio? Is SEH responsible for those incredibly informative
blue screens of death in Windows?

I guess Alex Ionescu interviewed with Microsoft for an internship only
to give up because they told him he'd have to forever halt his work on
ReactOS and TinyKrnl. He made some comment in a blog that NDA's, non
disclosure agreements, are usually not permanent.
