[PLUG] Identifying USB Device Assignments

My server/workstation has 4 USB ports, two on the rear and two that are
front accessible. When I plug in my USB thumb in the front/top port it's
assigned to /dev/sda1.
Now that all the video conferencing toys ... er, tools are here, I have
the camera plugged in one port at the rear, the scanner on the other rear
port, and the headphone/microphone on the front/top port.
I cannot determine to what device they've been assigned by looking at
/proc/bus/usb, dmesg, or /var/log/messages. How can I determine where they
are assigned so I can create mount points for them?
