Why does openttd, open transport tycoon deluxe, require graphics files from
a commercial Windows program by Microspire?

http://www.openttd.org/

Is it a GPL project that is worthless if you don't have graphics files
that you have to pay for. More bothersome, whose to say that Microspire
won't attempt to crush the project the way Blizzard destroyed the
Freecraft project?

OpenTTD is used to advertise ReactOS. Apparently, it works on: Linux,
Mac OS-X,
Windows, and Dos. Can you even buy Transport Tycoon Deluxe anymore?

Is this the wave of the future, the ability to play old popular games under
Linux and possibly on ReactOS as well if you bought a copy in the past for
Windows that still works? Why doesn't someone just replace the proprietary
graphics files? Noone wants to mess around with GPL software if they still
have to pay full price for the proprietary equivalent do they?
