Look at the date.  Linksys has been purchased by Cisco and is making the GPL
sources available for the system but the newer models (>=Rev 5) use
VXworks and do not have GPL violations.  Both ways work with Linux just fine.
the WRT54GL does use Linux and has enough memory for you to replace it with
your own from openwrt or DD-WRT without any real issues.
